PlantPlus®, FAQ

1.   What is PlantPlus®?
    It is a quality mark for high quality plants. The plants are not judged on their growing qualities but on the characteristics of the sort/cultivar.
2.   For whom is PlantPlus® intended?
    PlantPlus® is for the consumer as well as the industry itself. It directs the consumer in choosing a good product and for the industry it is a guide for growing good plants.
3.   Who determines which plants deserve the quality mark?
    The PlantPlus® Selection Committee has representatives from the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society (RBHS), Plant Publicity Holland (PPH) and other parties. The nominations are submitted by the RBHS Judging Committee.
4.   What are the criteria for PlantPlus® plants?
    PlantPlus® plants should have proven their quality and should be sufficiently available.
5.   How often is the list with PlantPlus® plants updated?
    Throughout the year new introductions are added to the list. Every five years, the entire list will be evaluated.
6.   Can I submit plants to PlantPlus®?
    New introductions that are presented to PlantPlus® will be first judged by the RBHS Judging Committee. When the Judging Committee agrees that the plant meets the quality requirements, it will present the plant to the Selection Committee.
7.   As a consumer, what can I do with PlantPlus®?
    The PlantPlus® logo allows you to distinguish good plant varieties and cultivars. Use it as guidance when visiting garden centres or when planning your garden.
8.   As a nurseryman/exporter, what can I do with PlantPlus®?
    Use the PlantPlus® logo on labels and in your catalogue in order to spread the top of the nursery selection.
